Ramzia Diab

Ramzia Diab (* Janjanbureh ) is a Gambian politician and diplomat with Lebanese roots.

Life

Ramzia Diab was employed as a stewardess at airlines, most recently as chief stewardess.

After the parliamentary elections in Gambia in early January 2002 , Diab was appointed by President Yahya Jammeh as an appointed member of the Gambian parliament, the National Assembly , at the end of January . In 2004, before the end of the 2007 legislative period, Diab left parliament. As a result, Diab was arrested several times.

She changed political camp and was close to the 2016 Coalition and the United Democratic Party (UDP). She was also an active supporter of the candidacy of Isatou Touray for the presidency. After threats to her life from around Jammehs, she went into exile in Senegal in 2016. On May 16, 2017, Diab was appointed Ambassador to Malaysia by President Adama Barrow . This appointment, which is initially contractually limited to two years, also includes accreditation as ambassador to the other countries in the ASEAN region (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam).
