Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited is an Indian company founded in 1961. The company was listed in the SENSEX 30 financial index.
Ranbaxy Laboratories is India's largest drug manufacturer. Its main office is in Gurgaon , Haryana state . Ranbaxy exports to 125 countries and has offices in 46 countries and manufacturing facilities in 7 countries. It is one of the ten largest generic drug manufacturers worldwide. The CEO is Malvinder Mohan Singh .
Most of Ranbaxy's products are licensed from foreign pharmaceutical companies, but a significant proportion also consists of active ingredients whose patents have expired.

Ranbaxy was converted into a public company in 1973. In 1998, Ranbaxy expanded into the US market, the world's largest market for pharmaceutical products, today the main market for Ranbaxy. In 2005, Ranbaxy had a total of 1.178 billion US dollars in sales, 28% of which in the USA and 17% in Europe. The share of sales from Brazil , Russia , India and China together was 29%.
In November 2008, the Japanese pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyō acquired a majority stake of almost 64% in Ranbaxy for 4.2 billion dollars. In April 2014, the Indian pharmaceutical company Sun Pharmaceutical took over Ranbaxy Laboratories for the equivalent of 2.9 billion euros, making it by far the largest drug manufacturer in India and the fifth largest generics manufacturer in the world.
