The Rangitoto Islands are a group of islands near the Marlborough Sounds on the north coast of New Zealand's South Island . Administratively they belong to the Marlborough District . They are located 2 km east of D'Urville Island , from which they are separated by the Rangitoto Roads .

The group consists of three main islands: the 225 m high Wakaterepapanui Island , Tinui Island with 190 m high and Puangiangi Island with 150 m. In addition, there is a small 37 m high island immediately south of Tinui Island and a few other rocks. Jag Rocks , up to 40 meters high , is 5.5 km to the east.

From 1957 to 2004, Puangiangi Island was inhabited by Ross Webber.
