Rest time

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In animal breeding, the resting time is the period from birth to the next insemination .

The rest time is an important economic parameter, especially in cattle production . A rest period of between 50 and 70 days is aimed for in order to achieve an intermediate gestation period of 85 days and an intermediate calving period of 360 days. This requires an undisturbed postpartum phase ( puerperium ). In herd management, only animals that are in heat again and are used for further breeding are recorded to calculate the resting time . The aim in cattle production is to use 95% of the calving cows for further breeding.
