Viennese citizenship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Viennese citizenship was in the Austro-fascist dictatorship, the replacement body for the resolution in the wake of the elimination of the democratic state Vienna city council . Its members were called the Council of the City of Vienna .

The Viennese citizenship consisted of 64 members with a minimum age of 26 years. These were not elected democratically, but were used by the regime. According to the May Constitution, it was stipulated that only people loyal to the Patriotic Front should be sent to the citizenship. The citizenship was a decision-making body, it lost the control and participation rights of the municipal council, its importance was subordinated to the mayor's office.

The mayor alone had the right to initiate legislation. The citizenry could only collectively accept or reject the legislative proposals, but did not have the opportunity to change them. The mayor was able to enact a law by ordinance, regardless of the consent of the citizens, if a resolution was not passed on time.
