Town hall of Beratzhausen

The town hall of Beratzhausen was built at the urging of the government Pfalz-Neuburg in 1573/74, since 1575 there are records about the town hall .

history

Under the government of Pfalz-Neuburg, the citizens of Beratzhausen were given "expired Ungeld " for the construction of the town hall. The Count Palatine Philipp Ludwig also lent 100 florins . Construction defects became apparent as early as 1591, the council had to take out a loan again and the town hall was fundamentally rebuilt. During the Thirty Years' War , the town hall was "ruined to the extreme" by Cronenburger Reitern in 1633; the restoration dragged on until 1670. In 1670 the beginning of an archive was made with the purchase of a filing case. In 1791 the town hall had to be renovated again at great expense; For this purpose, a loan of 400 fl from the Maria-Hilf-Kirche and 300 fl from the farmer Wolfgang Spengler from Rufenried had to be taken out.

The town hall was not only the seat of the administration. In 1577 the council reported to the government that a meat bank and bread shops were to be set up, in 1646 a salt trade was set up in a newly built parlor, and in 1691 there was talk of a dance hall in the town hall, which was set up by the carpenter Hans Sperber . In 1708 there was a town hall scale , from 1912 to 1961 there was a cattle scale , and the fire department shed was also here. A school was housed here for the longest time (1576 to 1958). The post office was also housed here from 1912 to 1932 . In 1902 a renovation was made and the bread shop and meat bank disappeared from the town hall.

In 1958, the brewery owner Michael Wiendl donated the money for the construction of a conference room, after the renovation work in 1961/62 the town hall is only used as an administration building. The last renovation was made in 1984. At that time, the top floor was converted into a conference room, which is also used as a conference room and wedding hall.

building

The building is two-story with a converted attic, it has a roof turret with a bell.

The frescoes are from the renovation in 1791. They show the coat of arms of Pfalz-Neuburg , the figure of Justitia and the market coat of arms on the east side . On the north side is the coat of arms of the Ehrenfelser with seven royal red diamonds and the coat of arms of the Stauffer zu Ehrenfels . The building was damaged by low-level aircraft in 1945, and in 1975 the facades and frescoes were renovated by the painter Walter Hagen. In the center there is an inscription in Latin:

"DILectus CIVibVs
IVstItIae VIVae
Piis MoribVs
Georgio Josepho Engl et
Joanne Adamo Dietheuer Consulibus
et Jakobo Friesl Cammerario."

Translated:
" Georg Joseph Engl and Johann Adam Dietheuer, both mayor Jakob Friesl, treasurer, consecrate this house to the beloved citizens of
the pious morals
of living justice ."

The chronogram shows the year 1791. In 1843 a heavier bell by the bell founder Joseph Spannagl was installed in place of the earlier small bell.
