Town Hall (Olesno)
The town hall in Olesno ( Rosenberg OS ) in the Opole Voivodeship was built in 1820/21 on the market square, corner of today's Jan-Nikodem-Jaroń-Straße. Originally there was a town hall from 1640, which was destroyed by fire in 1722.
history
The two-storey building with a basement was built in the style of a very simplified classicism : the portico, which was only added in 1880, consists of 6 Doric columns without entasis and fluting ; the entablature without triglyphs and metopes carries a tympanum without figurative decorations.
The town hall burned down on the night of January 22nd to 23rd, 1945. The history teacher Zeno Kurzja saved the most valuable files from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries from the flames. The files are now in the Wroclaw State Archives .
The once red-roofed steep hipped roof was rebuild by lower saddle roof replaced. The high, square tower crowned with an onion helmet was not rebuilt.
After the reconstruction, the building served as a museum; today it is the seat of the registry office.
The town hall was entered on October 14, 1966 under 1733/66 in the register of architectural monuments of the Opole Voivodeship.
