Town hall Kroppenstedt
The Kroppenstedter Rathaus is the town hall of the city of Kroppenstedt in Saxony-Anhalt .
The core of the two-story building on the town's market goes back to 1598. After a fire it was renovated in 1719. The eastern part of the building was built in 1730. The town hall is covered with a high pitched roof and turrets . On the north side a two-flight flight of stairs leads to the main entrance. In front of the town hall is the Freikreuz , a symbol of urban freedom.
On the west side of the building there are two pairs of windows with framing . Inside there is a barrel vault from the Gothic period . There are also old prison cells. The council archive is remarkable with documents dating back to the 15th century.
There is also a registry office in the building . It was redesigned in 1934 with wall paintings by the painter Walter Gemm from Halberstadt . The pictures show different stages of life.
