The Rathausplatz 5 building in Bad Kissingen , the major district town of the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen , is one of the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is registered in the Bavarian Monument List under number D-6-72-114-85 .

history

The two-storey half - hipped roof building was originally built as a former central mill. The lintel on the back of the building bears the inscription "1797"; however, it is said to have housed the municipal bathing room as early as the 16th and 17th centuries.

The building is the only one of several mill buildings erected on this site to be preserved. The middle mill was driven with the other mills by the originally open and now built under the road stream, which rises at the Liebfrauensee at the Bad Kissinger Marienkapelle and flows into the Bad Kissinger rose garden . The mill wheel of the middle mill was located at the height of the stream.

The wall painting on the side of the building facing the Rathausplatz was created by Albert Helm in 1961 and refers to the incorrect designation of the property as the “guild house”. Today it houses the Bad Kissingen city library.
