Ratip Berker
Ratip Berker (born June 5, 1909 , † October 27, 1997 in Istanbul ) was a Turkish applied mathematician and mechanical engineer. He mainly dealt with theoretical hydrodynamics . He was a professor at Istanbul Technical University .
Berker studied at the University of Nancy and the University of Lille , where he received his doctorate in 1936. In 1939 he became professor at the Technical University of Istanbul with a full professorship from 1954. He was visiting professor at the University of Lille, the University of Paris VI and the Indiana University and two honorary doctorates (Istanbul Technical University, Hacettepe University). In 1983 he became an officer of the Legion of Honor.
