List of rose varieties |
The shrub rose Raubritter was crossed by Wilhelm Kordes from the parent varieties 'Daisy Hill' and 'Solarium' and introduced in 1936. Its silky pink flowers are 6 cm tall and appear in May to June; the flowers grow in clusters of 10 - 40 and are characteristically spherical.
'Raubritter' is a descendant of Rosa canina , which Wilhelm Kordes used in his breeding experiments. According to other sources, a spontaneous hybrid of Rosa gallica , also known as Rosa × macrantha NHFDesp , is involved. Robber barons are therefore counted among the Macrantha roses like the mother variety Daisy Hill.
'Raubritter' can be used as a climbing rose, shrub rose or ground cover rose. It is somewhat prone to leaf diseases, especially powdery mildew; the faded flowers do not fall off and often mummify on the bush.
