The diamond shield is a heraldic shield in the shape of a diamond standing on top .

This shield was never worn as a battle shield or in tournaments , but it can be proven in seal impressions .

  • In Spanish-Portuguese heraldry, the diamond shield is a normal form.
  • In French and English heraldry, the shield is a coat of arms shape used for unmarried women. Here the shield is sometimes referred to as a lady's shield . Also widowed women use this form.

It is unusual in German heraldry; here the Spanish shield (semicircular below) is the common form.
