geography

The neighborhood is to the west of Saint-Pierre between Route Nationale 3 in the north and the coast in the south. In the west runs the eponymous Fiumara , which flows into the sea at Pointe de la Ravine Blanche . The Casabona district adjoins it to the east . Social housing , each with 6 floors, was built in the quarter in the 1970s . This made the district one of five in La Réunion that benefited from a project by the Agence nationale pour la rénovation urbaine (ANRU). 400 new apartments were built, a city park with 2 hectares, a new school center and a local transport line (TCSP). In addition, 852 apartments were renovated and a care home (EHPAD - établissement d'hébergement pour personnes âgées dépendantes) was built. Today there are also several sports fields, a church and two Tamil Hindu temples in the neighborhood.
