The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is a cricket stadium in Rawalpindi , Pakistan . It replaced the Pindi Club Ground as the city's international cricket stadium.
Capacity & Infrastructure
The stadium has a capacity of 28,000 and is equipped with floodlights. The two wicket ends are the Pavilion End and the Shell End .
International cricket
The first One-Day International was held in this stadium in January 1992 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka . The first test match was held here in December 1993 between Pakistan and Zimbabwe . At the 1996 Cricket World Cup , three preliminary round matches were played here. After the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore in 2009, international games in Pakistan were suspended altogether. The first test after this break took place on the 2019/20 Sri Lankan tour .
National cricket
The stadium is the home of Northern in national Pakistani cricket. It is intended to host Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League .
