Ray Feeney

Ray Feeney is a multi- Oscar- winning American entrepreneur .

Life

Feeney graduated from the California Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering and then worked at Robert Abel & Associates . There he was involved in the development of one of the first motion control camera systems in 1976 ; for this he received his first Scientific and Engineering Award at the 1988 Academy Awards . In 1978, Feeney founded his own company, RFX Inc. , which specialized in special visual effects . In 1991 he received his second award for his work on the Solitaire Image Recorder . At the Academy Awards in 1995, he received two other awards for his work on the Cinefusion Blue Screen software and telecine systems. In 1995 Feeney founded Silicon Grail , another special effects company, which among other things developed the post-production software RAYZ . In 2002, Apple Computer bought Silicon Grail's rights and patents . In 2001 he received the John A. Bonner Medal from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his pioneering work in the field of visual effects. In 2007 he also received the Gordon E. Sawyer Award .
