Ray Sefo

Ray Sefo (born February 15, 1971 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand martial artist .

Athletic career

Sefo learned the Chinese martial art Wing Chun as a teenager . Ray Sefo later devoted himself to Muay Thai , which he learned from the martial arts legend Kiosot . Sefo remained undefeated as an amateur in kickboxing . As a professional, he fought mainly in Europe and the USA. Sefo quickly made a name for himself there after victories over Andre Manaart , Kirkwood Walker and Michael McDonald . In 1997 he achieved his greatest success by winning the WKBA World Heavyweight Championship .

Between 1994 and 2001 Sefo also played professional boxing matches sporadically, most recently in September 2001 when he lost to a first-round knockout.

In 1996 Ray Sefo first appeared in the K-1 . However, he lost his debut against Ernesto Hoost . In the following years he defeated numerous well-known opponents such as Mark Hunt , Peter Aerts , Bob Sapp and Jérôme Le Banner . His greatest success in the K-1 was reaching the finals of the K-1 World Grand Prix 2000. There he was defeated by Ernesto Hoost.

Sefo trains at Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts .
