Raymond Bertholet (born March 18, 1909 in Geneva ; † December 26, 1979 there , reformed , resident in Neuchâtel and Geneva) was a Swiss politician (SP) and trade unionist .

biography

Raymond Bertholet was born on March 18, 1909 in Geneva, the son of Paul Bertholet, a bank clerk, and Monthoux, born Marie Eugénie. Bertholet completed an apprenticeship as an electrician . As a result, Bertholet founded the Société coopérative d'installations électriques with Charles Rosselet in 1935 . In addition, he acted as a founding member in 1928 and from 1932 to 1947 as president of the electrical fitters ' union of the Swiss Construction and Woodworkers Association (SBHV) , later the GBH. Subsequently, Bertholet served from 1954 to 1962 as vice-president of the Geneva section of the SBHV.

In addition, he was a member of the consistory of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Geneva and helped found the Center Social Protestant. Raymond Bertholet, who was married to Madeleine née Kernen, died on December 26, 1979 at the age of 70 in Geneva. He was the brother of René Bertholet .

Political offices

Raymond Bertholet joined the SP at the age of 18. At the cantonal level, he served as the Geneva Grand Councilor from 1951 to 1964 . At the federal level, he sat on the National Council from 1963 to 1967 . Raymond Bertholet, who was considered a committed trade unionist and militant pacifist , was the first conscientious objector to hold a national council mandate.
