Raymond E. Stone

Raymond E. Stone (born April 17, 1915 in Cranston , Rhode Island , † January 19, 2004 ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ) and from 1957 to 1960 mayor of Warwick , Rhode Island.

In 1956 Stone was first elected Mayor of Warwick, Rhode Island. He was re-elected in 1958 with a majority. Stone was also the favorite in the 1960 mayoral election. However, he was surprisingly defeated by his Democratic opponent Horace E. Hobbs with a narrow result of 15,216 to 15,391 votes. Stone was the last Republican mayor in the city until the election of Lincoln Chafee in 1992.

Stone was married and had three sons.
