Raymond Negre

Raymond Nègre (born July 13, 1908 in Domjulien , Vosges , France , † July 8, 1985 in France) was a French set designer and film architect .

Life

Born in the Vosges , Nègre trained as a theater designer and was also active on the stage at the beginning of his professional career. Until 1945 the set designer only worked sporadically as a film architect. From the end of the Second World War, Raymond Nègre became a busy set designer for almost consistently low-quality cinema entertainment. The director André Berthomieu in particular had Nègre regularly design the decorations for his productions. At the beginning of the 1960s he switched to television as a production designer before finally ending his career in 1971.
