Razormaid! Productions
Razormaid! Productions is a company in the music industry that hires DJs to mix successful songs, especially for 12 " versions ( remix ). The name Razormaid Mix denotes such versions. The label only supplies DJs, its products are not available in normal stores.

The company was founded by Joseph Watt and Art Maharg (†) in 1984 in San Francisco . The starting capital was a bank loan of $ 1,000 . Editing and remixing of popular club hits from all over the world was part of her way of working . Thanks to the special selection and re-editing of the songs, the label achieved cult status in the DJ scene. Another special feature were the elaborate designs of the records . The releases were only intended for the DJ market.
The label reached its peak in the late 1980s / early 1990s. Various, rarer records were sold at top prices in music stores. The two entrepreneurs entered the regular record market with remixes for Depeche Mode and Erasure .
Art Maharg died in 1992. Joseph Watt continued to run the label alone, but changed the style and music of the productions. The importance of Razormaid Productions has since diminished. From the 1990s CD-Rs were also produced for the DJ market. In the late 1990s, there were several lawsuits that made Watts work difficult. Further problems arose due to the easy availability of tracking programs and audio editors .
To deal with these new problems, Joseph Watts set up a remix service that offers its services through the label's website.
Razormaid often takes action against online auctions , which the label perceives as damaging to business and illegal. They also take care of their presentation on the Internet by forbidding private websites from putting images of their publications online.
