Re-commerce

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term Re-Commerce (alternative spelling Recommerce ) is a combination of the terms E-Commerce ( English for "electronic trade / trade") and Re (English for "again" or "back") and describes the trade of used items over the Internet . Most of these are consumer electronics such as cell phones , digital cameras , MP3 players and, more recently, tablet PCs . Books, CDs , computer games and films on DVD and Blu-ray Disc can also be sold online. While various online buying platforms have existed in the USA and Great Britain for many years, the trend is now also gaining ground in Germany.

history

The beginnings of re-commerce in Germany go back to 2003, when T-Mobile started a take-back campaign for cell phones. However, this has not yet happened online. Momox , Medifanten for books, reBuy for PC games, Wirkaufens and Flip4New for electronics, sales us and Cash4new for smartphones, sellmyprojector.com for projectors and textil-ankauf.com for clothing are considered pioneers of re-commerce . However, the aforementioned purchasing services also accept different items across all products, such as mySWOOOP, Momox, clevertronic, reBuy, Flip4New, ZOXS and Wirkaufens. In order to make the sale as easy as possible for customers, some retailers offer free shipping notes or even collections.

There are now over 50 suppliers for various product categories on the German market. Large e-commerce companies also offer re-commerce. EBay, in cooperation with Flip4new, buys used electronic goods on sofortverkauf.ebay.de, Media-Saturn uses its stationary stores across Europe to forward purchases to Flip4new and Otto works with Wirkaufens. Even Apple started its trade-in program after Amazon. The biggest differences to the well-known auction sites are the relatively simple processing and the immediate price offer. The items are normally refurbished and returned to the market again. Older items of little value are often collected for donations or recycled.

If devices are purchased with the aim of only recovering components or raw materials, i.e. recycling the devices, a distinction must be made from re-commerce. This business model is known as Recy-Commerce . Waste law issues must be taken into account here, as the purchase of waste may not be permitted.
