The Realschule on Mellinghofer Straße is a secondary school in the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr . It was founded in 1967 as a co-educational secondary school at the municipal secondary school in Broich and in 1968 it was established as an independent school on Mellinghofer Strasse. After several renaming and the conversion into a six-class normal form of the Realschule, it was given its current name in 1985. The school has 580 students and 38 teachers (as of 2013).

School profile

The school motto “Education through Relationship” stands for the requirement to supplement the general educational mandate with individual support for the pupils. Essential building blocks are the preparation for the professional qualification with the help of the career orientation office, the promotion of reading skills in the so-called reading offices, dealing with one's own history as well as the preparatory cooperation with local companies. A partnership with the Collège Louis Armand in Moulins-les-Metz has been in place since the 2006/07 school year to promote foreign language skills.

As part of the NRW quality analysis in 2008, the quality profile of the secondary school on Mellinghofer Straße was rated as good to very good. In 2012 the school was awarded the individual support seal of approval by the Ministry of Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . Since 2013 there has been an integration of pupils with special educational needs.
