"We cannot assume that the Internet will automatically develop in a direction that is compatible with democracy. It depends on 'how' the technology is structured, regulated and used. Governments and companies are actively working on the Internet The most treacherous situations arise when governments and companies pool their power over the same people, far from any control. That is why I am convinced: if we, the people, do not wake up and stand up for the protection of our rights and interests on the Internet, then we shouldn't be surprised if we wake up one day and these rights have been "programmed away", "regulated away" and sold out. "
