Reborn in Defiance (German meaning: defiantly reborn ) is the ninth studio album by the US band Biohazard . It was released on January 20, 2012 by Nuclear Blast worldwide, except in the US. It was initially planned to carry out a free digital publication - a physical edition with extra pieces should follow later.

Emergence

For the album, the four band members united almost in their original line-up, only drummer Danny Schuler had not been a member of the band from the very beginning. After the recordings with producer Toby Wright , however, Evan Seinfeld left Biohazard - while the other band members were still working on the recordings, Seinfeld called unexpectedly and said he would be leaving the band. Although the band was looking for a new singer and received applications from all over the world, Scott Roberts, who had already been with the band on the previous two albums, was quickly hired again as bassist and singer. The album title is related to the biohazard situation, e.g. B. to the reunification.

After the album was released, the band went on tour with Suicidal Tendencies , first in early 2012, then again in 2013.

reception

Andreas Schulz from Musikreviews.de described Reborn in Defiance as a “good, varied biohazard album that reminds you again and again how much fun you had when you were 16. “He awarded ten out of 15 points. Kai Butterweck from Laut.de wrote that with the album, the band “feel a bit closer to their heyday in the mid-nineties, but without being able to speak of a complete liberation”. He awarded three out of five stars. Uwe "Buffo" Schnädelbach awarded 8.5 out of ten points in Rock Hard magazine . He spoke of a "brave album". "Instead of copying the formula for success of Urban Discipline or State of the World Adress one to one, Biohazard enter on their ninth longplayer produced by Toby Wright (including Slayer , Kiss , Korn , Alice in Chains ) with sluggish, much more metallic numbers like Decay , Killing Me , Waste Away , the ballad-like Vows of Redemption and You Were Young and especially the final Season in the Sky , a quiet instrumental with an outro character, a bit of uncharted territory without forgetting your old fans. "
