Rights exploiters
In the context of copyright law , the term rights exploiter stands for those organizations that have the rights arising from copyright secured in order to generate sub-rights (licenses) and sell them on or exploit them themselves. This can e.g. B. be the production of copies or other reproductions of a work and their sale.
Typical rights exploiters are also film distributors, who usually take over the entire exploitation of the rights of a film in a country and then sell the exploitation rights for various media in a tiered exploitation chain (cinema, video store, pay TV, DVD, free TV).
In the area of sports broadcasting rights, rights exploiters are also active, selling television broadcasting rights for sports associations or clubs.
