Rights exploiters

In the context of copyright law , the term rights exploiter stands for those organizations that have the rights arising from copyright secured in order to generate sub-rights (licenses) and sell them on or exploit them themselves. This can e.g. B. be the production of copies or other reproductions of a work and their sale.

Typical rights exploiters are also film distributors, who usually take over the entire exploitation of the rights of a film in a country and then sell the exploitation rights for various media in a tiered exploitation chain (cinema, video store, pay TV, DVD, free TV).

In the area of ​​sports broadcasting rights, rights exploiters are also active, selling television broadcasting rights for sports associations or clubs.
