The trainee lawyer of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (pl .: Referendarz wielki litewski , lat .: referendarius Lithuaniae ) was a number of positions ( ministers and officials) in the Realunion Poland-Lithuania . He was appointed by King Sigismund II August . In the Grand Duchy of Lithuania there were two ministers, a clergy and a secular minister, who were always present at the royal court. From 1600, the legal clerkship was headed by officials who controlled the taxes paid by farmers and tenants to the king. They were also legal assessors at the court, at the royal court and at the Sejm . Around 1775 the legal clerkship of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania consisted of the secretaries of the Permanent Council and the Department of Foreign Interests.
