XM1201 Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle
The XM1201 Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle (RSV) (dt. Reconnaissance and surveillance vehicle ) was a project of the United States Army . It was part of the Future Combat Systems program . If it had been implemented, it would have become part of the military global information grid . It should have a variety of sensors to track down, locate and classify opponents. With the termination of the FCS program by Defense Secretary Robert Gates , the project was discontinued.
System description
The following was envisaged as reconnaissance equipment:
- Infrared sensors , among other things on an extendable mast
- ESM sensors
- Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS)
- Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle (SUGV)
- probably two drones
- Chemical warfare sensors
Since the vehicle was supposed to be based on the Manned Ground Vehicle, it can be air-transported, but only weakly armored. This disadvantage should be reduced by distance-active protective measures . The crew should consist of two vehicle operators and a four-man reconnaissance team.
