It belongs to the fantasy franchise Record of Lodoss War and therefore deals with the fate of some characters from Record of Lodoss War .

action

The young soldier Parn, son of a famous knight Thesius, wants to become a great knight. Therefore, he wants to go into battle for his land of Valis when the kingdom of Marmo, with the help of the magician Vagnard, first conquered the land of Kanon and now threatens his homeland. Parn is joined by his old friend and priest Eto, the high elf Deedlit, the dwarf Gim, the magician Slain and the thief Woodchuck. When they are on their way from Alania to Valis, they save Princess Fiana of Valis, who was kidnapped by the gray witch Karlla. The witch has allied herself with Marmo, because the ruler wants to bring peace to the island of Lodoss by uniting them.

To get help against Karlla, King Fawn's companions are sent to the Wise Word . At word they also meet Karlla, who reveals her motives to them. But the group can ensure that Karlla Marmo does not help unless Wort does not support Valis either. Words can help friends. In this way it is possible to defeat Marmo's army and defeat Karlla.

publication

The three volumes appeared in Japan every two years from 1995 to 1999 by the publishing house Kadokawa Shoten . In Germany, all volumes were published by Carlsen- Verlag within 2001 . As with all Record of Lodoss War manga, the translation into German was done by Christine Rödel. The manga has also been translated into English, Polish, Spanish and Portuguese.

reception

AnimaniA magazine particularly praises the well-integrated flashbacks that introduce background information about the characters. The various fights are "not necessarily squeamish but also not exactly brutally staged" and interrupted and balanced by humor. The almost slapstick-like scenes are implemented in a drawing style developed in the direction of Super Deformed , which is unusual for Record of Lodoss War . The manga offers entertaining entertainment for fantasy fans, even if it is not very innovative due to the plot, which is already known from earlier works in the series.
