Red-Letter Christians (English for "Red Letter Christians") is a Christian movement from the USA that is primarily committed to sociopolitical, humanitarian and social issues. The message of this movement is that the major evangelical groups in the US, the evangelicals , care too much about abortion and homosexuality , while the real teachings of Jesus are being forgotten. Red-Letter Christians are active in promoting peace, supporting families, the abolition of poverty and equality for marginalized groups, as these are the social problems that were important to Jesus.

The name "Red-Letter Christians" refers to the Bible editions that show the words spoken by Jesus himself in red, which is called red letter edition . While many Christians have long identified with the values of the Red Letter Christians , it was only through the books by Tony Campolo and Jim Wallis that a group emerged that is active under this name and sees itself as a counterweight to the mainstream evangelicals.

When asked why he started this gathering, Tony Campolo said:

"The purpose of this group was not to challenge the religious right with a religious left, but to give the spark to a religious movement that transcends the boundaries of political parties."

The Red-Letter Christians are closely linked to the Sojourners Community , which was formed in 1971 at the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School , an important seminary in Illinois .
