RedHack

RedHack (Kızıl Hackerlar, Kızıl Hackerlar Birliği) is a Marxist-Leninist oriented hacker group in Turkey that was founded in 1997. The group consists of twelve members. A hacker with the synonym MaNYaK is considered the founder . RedHack is the first and only group of hackers to be considered a terrorist organization. RedHack has already hacked institutions such as the university council, the Turkish police , the Turkish military , the telecommunications company Türk Telekom , the Turkish secret service MİT and many more.

In the summer of 2013, the TV broadcaster Halk TV conducted an interview with a member of the group on Skype for several hours .

Operations

  • Feb. 22, 2012 - 350 police sites paralyzed
  • April 22, 2012 - A web page of the Ministry of Interior of Turkey was hacked and modified.
  • May 2, 2012 Penetration into the system of the land forces and publication of personal data of the Turkish armed forces.
  • May 3, 2012 - In response to the Department of Education's milk project poisoning students, RedHack hacked the milk producer's website.
  • May 14, 2012 RedHack hacked the Family Ministry website on Mother's Day, leaving a message criticizing the lack of women's rights in Turkey.
  • May 29, 2012 - In support of the warning strike by Turkish Airlines employees, RedHack disabled the company's website. The Minister of Transport, Shipping and Communications Binali Yildirim confirmed the attack but denied any damage.
  • July 3, 2012 - RedHack attacked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' file sharing system and disclosed the personal details of foreign diplomats. It is also worth noting that RedHack stole 65 GB of data that had not yet been published.
  • Oct. 29, 2012 - RedHack, through alteration and hacking, leaves a message on the website of the Office of Religious Affairs criticizing the government and Fetullah Gülen.
  • October 2nd RedHack hacked the contracting authority, posted an offer on the page that the AKP was selling for 1 cent.
  • December 7, 2012 RedHack hacked the Treasury Department and announced an increase in wages. The ministry denied the incident.
  • December 25, 2012 With the help of RedHack, the government arrested pedophiles and blocked Twitter accounts indicating pedophilia.
  • February 26, 2013 - RedHack released files about Melih Gökçek , the mayor of Ankara. These files contained personal information as well as Melih Gökcek's assets.
  • March 22, 2013 - In solidarity with RedHack, Anonymous disabled the Ankara City Council's website.
  • March 23, 2013 - In collaboration with Anonymous, RedHack brought down the website of the Israeli secret service Mossad .
  • May 5, 2013 - In response to the brutal crackdown on demonstrators on May 1, RedHack defaced Istanbul Governorate and left a message for Governor Mutlu.
  • May 11 - RedHack expressed its grief after the bombings in Hatay / Reyhanli by disrupting the Hatay governor's website.
  • May 22, 2013 - RedHack released documents about the Hatay bombing, indicating that these were documents from Gendarmerie Intelligence. The documents are supposed to prove, contrary to the claims of the Turkish government, that the attack by al-Qaida was planned together with rebel groups in Syria. Hüseyin Çelik, vice chairman of the AKP said that the documents were not passed on to RedHack by hacking, but by an informant. He also claimed that the contents of the documents were not related to the Reyhanlı bombing but to another case where protective measures had already been taken. Utku Kalı was arrested on May 24th. He is also accused of having passed on the information about the bombing to RedHack. RedHack denies Utku Kalı's involvement in the publication of the documents. After about 6 months, on November 11th, Utku Kalı was released.
  • May 26, 2013 - RedHack published emails from then-EU Minister Egemen Bağış .
  • June 1, 2014 - In order to protest against the silence of the Turkish MPs, RedHack published telephone numbers of MPs and their spouses under the banner #OpTurkey - in cooperation with the hacker group Anonymous. on their blog. This was just the start of a long history of hacks under the banner #OpTurkey, which is a collaboration between Anonymous and RedHack.
  • June 8, 2013 - In response to the brutality of the Turkish police towards the protesters, the group released the phone numbers of all police chiefs in Istanbul.
  • June 12, 2013 - After the death of Ethem Sarisülük, who was shot and killed by a police officer during the Gezi protests, RedHack brought the Ankara police website to a standstill.
  • June 17, 2013 - RedHack released an audio recording of the meeting of the Minister of Agriculture and a businessman.
  • June 28, 2013 - RedHack hacked Istanbul City Special Provincial Administration, published user data and urged people to change data.
  • July 2, 2013 - RedHack hacked and disabled the website of the Sivas City Special Provincial Administration to commemorate the 1993 Sivas massacre.
  • Jul 3, 2013 - RedHack hacked the Religious Affairs Presidency and shared the user data with their followers, giving them a free hand in changing data on the site.
  • Aug 14, 2013 - RedHack hacked the city of Adana Water and Sewage Administration, shared the user data, and called on people to change data on the site.
  • August 23, 2013 - Hacked the website of the Association of Municipalities of Turkey and published user data. RedHack dedicates this attack to Ali Ismail Korkmaz, a fallen victim during the Gezi trials, and Utku Kali, who has nothing to do with relaying information about the Reyhanli bombing.
  • September 5, 2013 - RedHack disabled the website of the Turkish National Police and commemorates the victims of the Gezi and Dilan Alp, who was seriously injured by the police on May 1st.
  • September 11, 2013 - Disclosure of documents containing the names of the police officer who killed 22-year-old Abdullah Cömert during the Gezi protests. The documents also included the names of police officers and their location and time.
  • October 14, 2013 Modification and hacking of a state company.
  • October 22, 2013 - RedHack released 18 documents about former EU Minister Egemen Bağış. The documents included Egemen Bağış's income, communication with foreign authorities, daily activities, official meetings and the abuse of his authority.
  • November 25, 2013 - While 14 people were suspected of being members of RedHack, RedHack hacked the Turkish parliament and left a message on its website.
  • February 8, 2014 - Police officers' phone numbers published February 10, 2014 In protest of the new Internet law, RedHack publishes the phone numbers of police officers and officials from the Turkish secret service. They hacked and left a message on the Kars Township website. On the same day, they hacked the website of the Sakarya gas distribution center and left the message "the gas is free, the corrupt government has stolen enough". The third destination that day was the Amasya city website. In this hack, membership applications of the AKP party were published. The Ministry of Education was also attacked, the votes and expenses of the schools were published on justpate.it.
  • May 28, 2014 - Hacking of the email account of Muzaffer Yurttaş, AKP MP for the City of Manisa. RedHack published internal mails about the Soma mine disaster. The documents showed that not only was the high level of carbon monoxide the cause of the death of 304 miners, but the use of dynamite was also proven.
  • May 30, 2014 - Hacking of e-mail, Twitter and Facebook accounts, posting of chats, of the Prime Minister Varank. Commenting on the attack, RedHack said: "The prime minister who graduated with a degree in computer science in the United States has been hacked. Come and speak to us now!" June 1, 2014 Early in the morning, RedHack hacked the Ankara Chamber of Commerce website and left a message on the nuclear power plant issue. They also hacked the Trabzon Province website and created the link to the pastehtml script.
  • June 1, 2014 - Late in the evening, RedHack hacked the website of the Tunceli governorate and its SODES project coordinator and in its embassy called on the government to punish pedophiles. They accused the government of hiding the rape of a child by someone in the ruling party. The group was also able to hack and relink the website of the Trabzon Provincial Special Administration to a pastehtml script.

Arrests

On March 23, 2012, 7 out of 17 suspected people were arrested by the Ankara Attorney General's RedHack trial. RedHack stated that none of those arrested had any connection with RedHack.

On July 5, 2012, the prosecutor investigating the RedHack case filed for the RedHack group to be classified as an "armed separatist terrorist organization".

On October 8, 2012, the July 5 application was accepted. The prosecutor called for the alleged RedHack members to be sentenced to between 8.5 and 24 years in prison. There were three students left in detention after four of the seven previously arrested were released.

The case was then postponed to November 26, 2012. On November 26, 2012, the last suspected RedHack members were released.

The court postponed the appointment to February 26, 2013. On February 26, 2013, the court postponed the case again, to June 3, 2013. The reason for this was that the chief judges were still looking for IT experts. which were necessary for the RedHack case.

On May 9, 2013, the deputy attorney general in Ankara stated in relation to the Anti-Terrorism Act that the attacks by RedHack were not acts of violence and that RedHack should not be classified as a terrorist organization. The case has been turned over to the cyber crime department.

The German-Turkish journalist Deniz Yücel was arrested on February 17, 2017 . After Yücel wrote two articles about a hacked email from the collective, he was accused of membership in RedHack, data abuse and terrorist propaganda.
