Halk TV ( German about Volks-TV ) is a Turkish nationwide television broadcaster that was founded in 2005. He is considered to be affiliated with the Republican People's Party (CHP), although relations ended on February 18, 2011 under the new CHP chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu . The former mayor of Esenyurt , Gürbüz Çapan , has been a pillar of Halk TV since February 3, 2011.
history
Halk TV was founded on January 10, 2005 by former CHP accountant Mahmut Yıldız and received financial support from the CHP. When Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu took over the management of the CHP in 2010, she stopped the donations, which led to financial difficulties at Halk TV. Kılıçdaroğlu also asked CHP MPs and members not to appear as guests of the station.
In May 2013, Halk TV was reprimanded by RTÜK for broadcasting a "most watched" video on YouTube . The reason given was insult to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan .
During the protests around Gezi Park , Halk TV was one of the few Turkish TV channels that reported the events live. Because of this, the regulatory authority RTÜK imposed a fine on Halk TV for "damage to the physical, moral and mental development of children and young people".
