Türksat 4A is a commercial communications satellite operated by the Turkish satellite operator Türksat . Unlike the previous satellites, this model was produced jointly by Turkish and Japanese engineers.

Structure and task

The three-axis stabilized satellite is equipped with several C-, two Ka-, 28 Ku- and X-band transponders and is supposed to have a large bandwidth from the position 42 ° East from Africa, Europe, the Middle East, as well as in South and Central Asia of communication services such as directly receivable radio and television programs. The cover exceeds the previous models many times over. In addition to extended reception with smaller antennas in Europe and Asia in the FSS C-band, reception from all over continental Africa in the Ka-band is possible. It was built on the basis of the DS2000 satellite bus from Mitsubishi Electric and has a planned service life of more than 15 years.

history

Carried out the contract to build the satellite and its successor in March 2011. Turksat 4A was on 14 February 2014 21:09 UTC with a Proton-M / Briz-M - carrier rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in a geostationary brought orbit. The first tests were carried out at position 50 ° East, then Türksat 4A was handed over to the operator on March 29, 2014.

After further testing, it was officially put into operation on July 15, 2014 and replaced the Türksat 2A , which was decommissioned in 2016.
