Red House Painters was in 1989 San Francisco , founded rock band . Their music, sometimes referred to as slowcore or sadcore , is a form of alternative rock that was characterized by a strongly reduced tempo, filigree guitar lines and the haunting vocals of the head of the band, Mark Kozelek . Most of the Red House Painters' recordings appeared on 4AD Records in England. Since the late 1990s, Kozelek has primarily devoted himself to other projects such as Sun Kil Moon .
