Suwanee is a city in the US state of Georgia , the area of which extends to the three counties ( Gwinnett County , Forsyth County and Fulton County ). It is located about 20 miles north of Atlanta . It can be reached via Interstate 85 or the Peachtree Highway.
Demographics
The city, which has an area of 25.6 km², had a population of 8,725 according to the 2000 census. However, a strong tendency towards immigration is noted, since an unreported figure of 12,553 inhabitants was predicted in 2005.
35.6% of the population are 24 years old or younger, whereas only 4.3% are older than 64 years old; the average age is 34 years. 84.5% of the population have a white skin color, in second place are Asians with 6.8%, followed by Afro-Americans with 6.4%. The remainder are taken by residents of other ethnic groups.
