Red Sea Jazz Festival

The Red Sea Jazz Festival is an annual since 1987 on four days in the last week of August in Eilat in Israel take-find jazz festival. It takes place under the open sky in the harbor area. Around 70,000 visitors come to the largest jazz festival in Israel every year.

Founder and director until 2008 was the Israeli jazz pianist Dan Gottfried (* 1939), then Avishai Cohen . It is supported by the Israel Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the City of Eilat. Some of the concerts are also free.

Workshops take place (in hotels), serve to meet Israeli and foreign jazz musicians and offer platforms for collaborative projects, as in the past by Randy Brecker and Mark Egan , Miroslav Vitouš and John Abercrombie , Charlie Haden and John Scofield .
