The Red Tuesday Bushfires ( German : Red Tuesday bush fire) occurred on February 1, 1898 in southern Gippsland in Victoria in Australia. Twelve people were killed in these bushfires and 2,000 houses were destroyed. 15,000 people were affected, of whom 2,500 were left homeless.
