Redken (or Redken 5th Avenue NYC ) is an American professional hair care company based on 5th Avenue in New York City . The company is part of L'Oréal SA

history

In 1960, the actress Paula Kent (later Kent Meehan, 1931-2014) and the chemist Jheri Redding (1907-1998) came together to develop professional hair care and styling products and founded the Redken company. The name "Red-Ken" is made up of the first three letters of the surnames of the two founders. In 1993, Redken was bought by Cosmair, Inc. now known as L'Oréal USA . In 2007 the company was included in the "Icons of the American Marketplace".

Products

Redken products generally follow a special guideline. The products are protein based and based on pH values between 4.5 and 5.5. The treatment of hair with proteins made Redken famous, especially through the patented “protein-moisture-balancing concept”. Redken only manufactures products for hairdressing needs and hairdressing sales.
