The Buss shipping company , also known as the Buss Group , is a shipping company from Leer (East Frisia) . The company's roots go back to a shipping company founded in Westrhauderfehn in 1838 . In the beginning, coastal sailors were used and later the company relocated to Leer.

The company operates a fleet of around 40 ships, made up of container ships between 400 and 5300 TEU and multi-purpose ships. According to its own information, the company employs over 1000 people at sea and others in the various farms. In addition to the actual shipping business, various branches of business such as chartering, new construction planning, advanced training and other maritime services are operated. The group also includes a real estate company and an IT system house.

In the course of the ongoing shipping crisis, insolvency proceedings were opened on August 8, 2012 for the one-ship company MS "Isar Trader" Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG and its general partner, Buss Seeschiffahrt GmbH. The shipping company and all other lines of business continue to exist unchanged.

After the shipping company Buss ran into further financial difficulties in 2015 and was looking for a new investor, in 2016 it was absorbed in the newly founded platform for medium-sized shipping companies Liberty Blue in Leer. The aim of Liberty Blue is to unite other smaller shipping companies under one roof in order to give them the opportunity to survive in the globalized shipping market by exploiting synergy effects.
