Refe (unit)

The Refe , also Rähf , was a measure of length and corresponded to the cubit . The measure applied to Madagascar and was set anew every year after the rice harvest. The cubit fluctuated between 1 and 2 meters . The measure was used to measure the blue and white linen traded there .

In Mahajanga the length was shorter than the old Aune and had

  • Example 1 Refe = 526 5/6 Paris lines or 1.188 meters.
  • Example The refe in the north was twice as long.
