Reflectometer
A reflectometer is a device for the non-destructive measurement of reflections and run lengths .
Reflectometers use different waves and are used in various fields in science and industry :
- Electric waves:
- Time domain reflectometry : Procedure for recording cable lengths, crushing, cable breaks, short circuits or other faults in cables.
- Moisture measurement with time domain reflectometry to determine soil moisture in geology and agriculture.
- Light:
- Reflectometric thin film measurement
- Optical time domain reflectometry : Further development of the TDR to higher wavelengths in the optical range, especially for use in measuring fiber optic networks in network technology and in telecommunications .
- Ellipsometry
- For assessing gloss on even painted and plastic surfaces (see gloss meter )
- X-rays:
- Neutrons:
