The Reformed Church Gachnang is a listed Evangelical - Reformed church in Thurgau Gachnang .

history

Origins

The first documentary mention goes back to the year 1269. There is talk of a Gachnang folk priest Berchtold von Säckingen , which requires an associated church.

The structure is much older and dates back to the 10th century, when a basilica in the Romanesque architectural style is believed to be at the current location.

Late Middle Ages and Modern Times

From 1493 to 1495, the choir was expanded and the church tower was significantly raised according to the late Gothic concept . In the Rococo period 1744–48 the nave was expanded to its present size.

The organ was installed in 1975 by the Felsberg organ workshop .

The church has an expansive omen . In 1957, two glass paintings by the Zurich artist Max Hunziker were inserted into the window front.

Renovations

The Gachnang Church underwent an interior renovation in 1640, 1864, 1933, 1971 and 2009, and an exterior renovation in 1640, 1734, 1838, 1877, 1957 and 1999.

Church organization

Gachnang forms an independent parish within the Dean's Office I: Frauenfeld of the Evangelical Church of the Canton of Thurgau .
