The Reform Wels are an Austrian manufacturer of specialty vehicles for agriculture ( Landtechnik ) and communal services .
As a niche provider , the SME , which employs around 400 people, exports worldwide, the export quota is around 70%. The best-known product is the Reform Muli , a mixture of a small van and a tractor that is used worldwide as a special small van in difficult terrain. Sister companies are Agromont AG ( Hünenberg , Switzerland ) and Kiefer GmbH ( Dorfen , Germany ).
history
Johann Bauer, son of a farmer, founded the company in 1910 with seven employees. The first product was the “Welsia” seed drill . The product range was continuously expanded until 1940. So slurry pumps and barrels, grain cleaning mills and potato harvesters were also manufactured.
Johann Bauer was also the owner of the silver malt coffee factory in Wels , which was closed due to a lack of profitability. During the time of National Socialism in Austria , both companies were temporarily managed by Franz Blumentritt. It is unclear whether they were in Jewish possession, as there are no files on them.
After a production stop in the Second World War , the old program was resumed in 1945. In 1947 the in-house gray and malleable foundry for parts production was opened. The first motor mower "R1" rolled off the assembly line in 1948, the mower turner "2000" in 1965. In the following years, the subsidiary Agromont was founded in Switzerland and the first universal transporter "Muli 25" was built.
In 1993, the Metrac 4004H was the first hydrostatically driven device to be offered. In 1999 the mountain tractor "Mounty" appeared as a tractor with four wheels of the same size. The range of mowers was with the acquisition of 2,003 books - Hydro mowers expanded.
The motor mowers with hydrostatic drive were taken over by Bucher Industries . Initially, Reformwerke Wels only imported these motor mowers and sold them under the Reform brand. The motor mower division was later taken over by Bucher Industries and the Bucher Elite motor mowers have been sold as Reform M9 and M14 since then.
Since 2010 the motor mowers from the Swiss company Rapid have been taken over and sold in Austria in red under the Reform brand. The type designations are RM7 (Rapid Rex), RM8 (Rapid Swiss), RM9 (Rapid Mondo), RM13 (Rapid Universo) and RM20 for the parallel model of the Rapid Euro. The motor mowers are largely identical except for the red color.
