Transverse profile
The term transverse profile is used, among other things, in road and river construction, but also in radiation therapy and describes a profile transverse to the axial direction.
Road construction
Under a cross profile, also called "expanding cross-section" called, is understood in the road construction a vertical section through the road body, at right angles to the road axis. The standard cross-section is a special form of the cross-section .
A standard profile differs from a transverse profile in that it shows more details, but only schematically. In addition, it does not have to represent an actual cross-section. There are usually 2 standard profiles per section, one for the incision and one for the excavation. Cross profiles, on the other hand, are usually drawn at a continuous distance (e.g. 50 m).
The transverse profile describes in the form of a technical drawing the structure of a road when it cuts through an axis, a sidewalk , railroad or pipe trench . Cross profiles are true to scale . Drawings of a height plan or longitudinal sections , on the other hand, are usually excessive, i.e. H. Height differences are exaggerated for clarity. The usual scales are 1: 50/1: 500 or 1: 100/1: 1000.
In addition to the geometry values of the structure, the layer structure of the roadways can be seen from a transverse profile . This is important for determining quantities and costs .
The quantities between the shifts are calculated and checked in Germany according to the procedure of the regulations for electronic construction accounting (REB) 21.013. Simple cross sections can be calculated using the REB method 23.003 (formula 22).
River engineering
The river transverse profile refers to a section across the direction of flow with site heights recorded at points below and above the mean water bed. The river's longitudinal profile, on the other hand, is the slope of its water level from the source to the mouth.
radiotherapy
As part of the physical measurements on radiation therapy devices, the transverse profile shows the dose distribution perpendicular to the central beam at a certain water depth.
