shower
A shower is a short-lasting precipitation event (up to a maximum of 45 minutes) with mostly high, sometimes rapidly changing precipitation intensity and a narrowly limited precipitation field (less than 10 km²). It is caused by strong vertical air movements ( convection ) and is therefore also known as convective precipitation .
There are showers of rain , hail , sleet and snow . When viewed from a distance, showers appear as tows, which are colloquially referred to as fall strips . The technical term for this is Praecipitatio , since precipitation reaches the ground during a shower.

Meteor showers , in which large numbers of meteorites fall in a short time , occur rarely in reality (e.g. on Jupiter 1994 ). They are mentioned more often in fantasy and science fiction (e.g. in the series Smallville ).
