history

Reggiana Calcio Femminile was founded in 1976 under the name AC Santa Croce , five years later the club changed its name. Another five years later, the womanhood rose as champions of Serie B for the first time in Serie A , in which she temporarily ran up as Reggiana Zambelli due to the financial support of Renzo Zambelli . After the runner-up in 1989 behind ACF Giugliano Campania , she won the championship between 1990 and 1991 and remained without defeat during the season. In 1992 she finished the regular playing time in first place, in the newly introduced subsequent play-off games she was defeated in the final of the AC Milan women's team on penalties . After the mode had been changed back, the third championship title in club history followed in 1993. As in the previous year, the women's team also won the Coppa Italia and thus the double this year .

After Zambelli stopped his support in 1993, the club gave up despite the successes on his right to come to Serie A and played in Serie C Emilia-Romagna . In 1997, the woman, now again as AC Reggiana Femminile, made it to Serie B, from which the club rose to Serie A2 in 2002 and Serie A the following year. In 2005 the club changed its name to ASD Reggiana Calcio Femminile. In 2010, the women, who were coached by the former Italian national player Milena Bertolini , won the club cup for the third time with a final win on penalties over the ASD Torres Calcio Femminile . Once again, economic problems led to the withdrawal to Serie C, from which the womanhood rose to Serie B in 2014 under the coach Federica D'Astolfo . In 2016, the club began the season under the old name before being promoted back to Serie A after being taken over by US Sassuolo Calcio.
