The government building in Opole is located on Pascheke at ul. Piastowska, the former port street. The government building was built in 1930 according to the plans of the architect Friedrich Lehmann from Schneidemühl in the modern style for the province of Upper Silesia . Today it is the seat of the Voivodeship Office of the Opole Voivodeship , the Self-Government (Marshal's Office) of the Opole Voivodeship, the District Office of the Powiat Opolski (Opole District) and other public institutions.

history

The new government building was built on August 13, 1930 on the site of the Piast Castle , which was demolished in 1928 . After a competition, it was decided in favor of Friedrich Lehmann's design. The building was aligned along the Mühlgraben . The Piast Tower , which was part of the Piast Castle and was not demolished, was included in the ensemble . In 1934 the government building was opened for use. The main building is 112 meters long and 14 meters wide. In 1997 a postmodern elevator was added to the building.
