The regional library Neubrandenburg is a regional library for the city of Neubrandenburg and the surrounding cities and communities.

After the traditional Mecklenburg-Strelitz State Library in Neustrelitz was dissolved in 1950, the holdings of the State Library were divided into various libraries and archives. The district library for the Neubrandenburg district was set up in the Neustrelitz city library in 1954. It was not until 1965 that the “City and District Library Neubrandenburg” was set up in the House of Culture and Education . In the "City and District Library Neubrandenburg" the public library, founded in 1865, was also absorbed. It has had its current name since 1990.

A small remainder of the historical book holdings in the Neustrelitz regional library, including mainly older non-fiction literature on Mecklenburg regional studies, became the property of the Neubrandenburg district , ended up in Neubrandenburg and formed the basis of the Mecklenburgica collection of the regional library . Expanded and continuously supplemented since the 1960s, the regional library collections in the Neubrandenburg regional library are now among the largest and most important of their kind in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The library is connected to the German and international interlibrary loan system.
