Rei Cretariae Romanae Fautores

Rei Cretariae Romanae Fautores (abbreviation RCRF ) is an international scientific association for the study of Roman ceramics . It was founded in 1957 by Howard Comfort and Elisabeth Ettlinger as Rei Cretariae Romanae Fautores Ubique Consistentes with the aim of exchanging experiences between scholars from different countries.

The association has over 250 individual members from around 25 countries (as of 2018).

Congresses are held roughly every two years and are organized by members. Previous congresses have taken place in Switzerland, Italy, Austria, France, Spain, Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Romania, Belgium, Albania, Serbia, Portugal and Turkey. The conference and publication languages ​​are English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Rei Cretariae Romanae Fautores publishes the publications Rei Cretariae Romanae Fautores Acta ( ISSN  0484-3401 ) and as a supplement, Rei Cretariae Romanae Fautores Acta Supplementa , which appear in different publishers. The Acta are mostly published as anthologies in connection with congresses, the Acta Supplementa are independent works on special topics.
