IC 1575 = Arp 231 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 pec in the constellation Pisces . It is around 262 million light years away. Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class galaxies with concentric rings .
The object was discovered on September 5, 1896 by Lewis Swift .
