IC 1574 is an irregular galaxy of the Hubble type IB (n) m in the constellation Whale in the southern sky and a member of the Sculptor group . It is around 17 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 9,000 light years .

The object was discovered on November 3, 1898 by DeLisle Stewart .
